LAHORE: Balochistan added another feather in their cap when they won the 4th National Under-17 Football Championship at Quetta’s Ayub Stadium on Saturday, said a spokesman for the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) here on Saturday. This is Balochistan’s second junior title. On 29 July, Balochistan won the 18th National Youth Football Championship at Abbottabad’s Frontier Force Regimental Centre (FFRC) Ground.
Balochistan struck the lone goal through striker Masood in the 48th minute to win the seven-day show. Defending champions Sindh took the third spot by beating Punjab 2-0. The goals were scored by Abdur Rehman (64th minute) and Ali Mohammad (67th minute).
Match officials for the matches were Ali Muhammad (match commissioner), Jahangir Khan (referee inspector), Jamal Abdul Nasir, Muhammad Ali, Shamas Pervez, Shafiq Ahmed, Abdul Khalid, Muhammad Saeed, Taj Muhammad and Shafaat Habib (referees and assistant referees).
The Quetta event will help the PFF to form the Pakistan team for the AFC U-17 Championship. Pakistan will take on India and Tajikistan in qualifying phase of AFC Championship on November 13 and 15, 2005 respectively.
